Like all of you, we have been monitoring the evolving impact of COVID-19.

Here at A Spoonfull Of Sugar Childminders, health and safety has always been and will continue to be a top priority for our children, parents and employees.

We are in a tough place here, as our heart wants to help those in need (with the recent school closure announcements, we anticipate the need increasing) but also keep with best practices to hopefully help manage the spread of COVID-19.

With a lot of diligent consideration, feedback from those in the medical field and following the suggestions from the Government of Canada, we want to share with you some changes we’re making, as well as what we’re asking from both our clients and employees, until further notice:

1.     Hand washing - We are requiring all employees to wash their hands when they arrive at a home. We have reminded them to be extra vigilant in hand washing throughout the entire time they are on shift.

Staff are being asked to wash their own and children's hands before and after meals, activities and being outside. Recommended time for handwashing is 20-30 seconds.

Staff are asked to avoid touching their eyes, nose and mouth.

2.     Symptoms–

As recommended by WHO, if you or your children are sick, with even the slightest cough, sore throat or runny nose, please consider cancelling your shift with us. At the very least, please advise us of any potential symptoms your family is experiencing so we can advise our employee and seek her comfort level of continuing with the shift.

We have asked our employees to advise us of any symptoms they are experiencing. At this time, we will follow our Sick Policy by reaching out to the client to see if a replacement is necessary and if so, we will do our best to seek a replacement. Please note our availability for a replacement will be limited.

If an employee arrives to a shift where the children are visibly sick and A Spoonfull Of Sugar Childminders was not notified and our employee is not comfortable caring for the children, she will advise the client of her observations and her discomfort, the Spoonfull Of Sugar Childminders of her discomfort in continuing with the shift. She will not be mandated to continue the shift and A Spoonfull Of Sugar Childminders will not provide a replacement.

3.     Cancellation Policy–

Same as always.

If we know before 24 hours then a full refund is given.

Less than 24 hours notice then half of invoice refunded.

4.     Social Distancing –

Though we cannot mandate what our employees do on their off time, we are strongly advising our employees to be mindful and ideally limit the places they visit during their personal time.
